What's Occuring?

Retro sail on a very windy day

Couple of pictures from the weekend, went down to West Kirby but it was howling. Just caught Bobby H coming off the water saying it was way too windy so didn't bother! Gusted up to 52 knots, which is pretty windy! Had a Halloween party on the Saturday, so it was always going to be a pretty low key day anyway.

Moody skies

Got a few photos of the new board which I'll bore you with. It's about 80 litres, 226cms long and 57 wide. First impressions are great, feels floatier than my 82 as its a bit wider in the tail and stubbier, but not really pushed it yet. It's a semi-custom, and I've also got a 90 on it's way which unfortunately missed the flight. The 80 almost missed it as apparently the board was finished with 10 minutes spare... Long story! I'll do more of a write up on it soon, as need to use it some more first. Basically Nude Sailboards are a fairly new outfit based out of Fremantle, WA, which is where I used to live. James Hooper is the brains behind it and has a fair bit of input and influence from the very strong scene out there and the local windsurf industry, as well as shaping kiteboards and surfboards so he really understands what's what. WA is a perfect testing ground, with a real variety of conditions, great sailors and good winds, so everything is kind of set up really! He's got a site coming online soon, so check it out... www.nudeboards.com.au

Nude... Resin tint graphic... Cool

Note the vee on the underside with the harsh flash (intentional of course...)

Hoops hands. Bigger in real life...

I've cashed in all my days in lieu this week, so I'm chasing the wind and waves. Had Leasowe today but to be honest it was pretty shite and would have gone to West Kirby freestyling if I didn't have some fins to test. Tomorrow it'll be Tywyn way I think, looking like it's going NW later so should be good for some port tack riding or at least some jumping. Not sure about Thursday yet, and Friday have my pre-op assessment. Hopefully the knee will be fixed soon!
